Wedding Wine!
This is my first post for a very long time but I hope to resurrect the blog properly in the New Year. This weekend I have a very special wine-tasting event for my daughter’s wedding in December! The wedding breakfast menu is as follows:
Goat’s cheese cries out for Sauvignon Blanc and the partridge will go well with a Rhone Syrah/New World Shiraz or a fine Burgundy. But I have decided to try some robust Beaujolais alongside a Burgundy. For the white two Sancerres will be tasted. The toasting wine was settled some time ago – it has to be English sparkling so we had settled on Nyetimber Classic Cuvee (£31.00) but I have just tasted the recent release of Windsor Great Park Vineyard 2014 (£34.99) and it is stunning! So we will, of course, have to have a taste-off between Nyetimber and Windsor. I will post the result next week!
The other wines all come from the Wine Society and this is what we will be tasting:
- Sancerre La Reine Blanche Domaine Vacheron 2016 £18.50
- The Society’s Exhibition Sancerre 2016 £14.95
- Domaine Jean Marc Burgaud Morgon Cote de Puy 2014 £12.95
- Domaine du Moulin d’Eole Moulin a Vent Les Thorins 2014 £10.95
- Chateau de Beauregard Moulin a Vent Clos des Perelles 2014 £14.50
- The Society’s Exhibition St Aubin Rouge 2015 £12.50
